the even scarier bit is that they're still perpetuating the myth that "organic" stuff is somehow superior to traditional agriculture practices...ugh.

...and using the Eugenically Blonde Poster Children to do it. :shudders again:

Though...um...isn't "organic" the original traditional agricultural practice?

No. Agriculture is concerned with getting as much food to feed people out of the ground as possible. Summed up this is expressed as yield, or, how many bushels per acre of corn did you get (kg per m2 if we use SI units). Although agriculture in the past used way too many chemicals and so on and so forth we have made great strides in progress towards maximizing yields and reducing chemical pollutants. Remember, even the big industrial farmers want to farm for a long time and not leave the land raped and depleted.

Organic farming presents itself as a viable alternative. However, they are using more resources to achieve less output. You especially get higher losses of yields and things like that because you aren't providing the right nutrition. You have to drive your tractor more to apply things like manure and whatnot. Really, it's a bum deal. You cannot feed the entire population of the world using these practices.
